Nate Falk, owner and licensed producer
Nate Falk founded Falk Agency in 2020 and runs it day to day. He's a licensed Alabama property and casualty producer (license 243077, NPN 8529323) and personally handles the agency's property and commercial submissions, surplus lines placements, underwriting documentation and client service. When you call the office, you're talking to the person who built your policy.
Nate has worked in insurance for more than 15 years, first with Farmers Insurance and MetLife Auto & Home before opening Falk Agency in 2020. He has extensive experience in both personal lines and commercial insurance, and he's the person building the submissions and reading the forms on the agency's property and surplus lines accounts.
Our story
Falk Agency started in 2020. After years with Farmers Insurance and MetLife Auto & Home, Nate Falk had learned the business from the inside and built a good living for his family, but working for a single carrier meant recommending one company's products whether or not they were the right fit. He wanted the freedom to do the best thing for each client, and the only way to get it was to go independent. So Falk Agency was born.
Since then the agency has grown into a trusted independent agency serving the greater Birmingham area, has developed a specialty in commercial property and hard-to-place risks, and has expanded into Tennessee and Georgia. With Nate's son Simon now on board as a producer, Falk Agency is a family business built for the long run: an agency clients can rely on to protect their homes, vehicles and businesses for decades to come.
How we work
Falk Agency is an independent agency, which means we represent multiple carriers rather than working for one. On every account we compare options across the companies we're appointed with and, for harder risks, the wholesale and surplus lines markets we place with directly. The recommendation you get is the one we'd choose for ourselves, explained in plain language with the trade-offs spelled out.
Our specialty is commercial property: apartment and habitational buildings, commercial real estate and investor portfolios, hotels, restaurants and other special occupancies, and the vacant, older, coastal or loss-affected buildings that standard carriers decline. Much of that work runs through the surplus lines market, where the agency places business directly with wholesale brokers and non-admitted carriers. That focus shows up in the details: a statement of values built before the submission goes out, replacement cost checked against a coinsurance clause, wind and hail deductibles explained in dollars rather than percentages, and mortgagee and additional interest clauses done right the first time.
Around the property book we write general business insurance and a meaningful number of contractor accounts across Jefferson, St. Clair and Shelby counties, and we insure homes and vehicles for the owners, managers and families behind those businesses.
Carriers and markets
We're appointed with Liberty Mutual, Progressive, GEICO, National General, Foremost, Foremost Signature, Openly, Homeowners of America, Tower Hill, American Modern, AmTrust, Philadelphia Insurance Companies and ERGO NEXT, and we place surplus lines business through wholesale brokers with access to Scottsdale, Nautilus, Covington Specialty and other E&S markets. Falk Agency, LLC holds Alabama agency license 3001449306 (NPN 20028269). Nate Falk holds Alabama producer license 243077 (NPN 8529323). The agency is also fully licensed in Tennessee and Georgia, so we can write and service accounts in all three states, including businesses with locations or jobs across state lines. Licenses can be verified through the Alabama Department of Insurance and the National Insurance Producer Registry.
